At A&G, we believe that every worker has the right to a safe and healthy working environment, whether they’re working at height, in confined spaces or with high-risk plant and equipment. That’s why we employed our own qualified Work Health & Safety (WH&S) manager – Australia’s only specialised stainless steel tank fabricator and installer to do so.
Eliminating or controlling risks
When people and machinery intersect, accidents can happen. Our construction and installation safety programs aim to eliminate risks, or mitigate them, through our safety processes, systems, the guidance of our WH&S manager, and consultation with our workers and clients.
We realise that only through the combined effort of everyone on the various teams can we hold true to our promise that everyone – our employees and our clients – goes home unharmed at the end of each working day.
We work hard to ensurethat all our employees have a complete understanding of the potential hazards, comprehend how critical safety is to our operations, and know what to do in the event of a potential emergency.
Our safety guidelines include processes to ensure worker safety on every one of our often-complex jobs. From start to finish, our goal is zero harm and we strive to achieve best safety practice on every job.
Prior to work commencing on a site, our WH&S manager works with the project managers to identify potential hazards, put in place control measures to eliminate or mitigate any risks, and prescribe the appropriate equipment necessary to complete the job safely. For example, for working at heights, our practice is to install from the safety of a working platform, not unsafe ladders.
“We work to our promise that every employee goes home unharmed.”
Employees on site must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and work to the designed work safety plan.
Safety for large Principal Contractor projects
In addition to our WH&S manager,A&G’s Safety Management Committee works hard to ensure that all of A&G’s processes and procedures are in place for the safety of our employees and customers.
Currently our WH&S team at A&G are preparing and executing Principal Contractor obligations for two large projects:
- Supplying and installing 124 wine tanks of varying sizes as well as building and installing a number of A&G’s world-renowned Sweeping Arm Potter Fermenter (SWAP) at a single winery. Greenfield site.
- Decommissioning of current spent grain silos, with the world’s largest brewing company. This includes the on-site manufacture of replacement silos.
Our site teams will be using our state-of-the-art welding technologies while maintaining focus on construction safety and ensuring A&G delivers an excellent finished product to our clients.
Safety is paramount
WH&S plays a vital role in Project Management and Principal Contractor roles, a specialist field in which A&G can assist and execute with the involvement of all our team members.
We’re proud to be able to talk about our incident-free work, our safety culture and team-driven safety performance.
